My Approach

When we meet, I'll sit with you and really listen. I'll ask about the person you're remembering, not just the "highlights reel" but the everyday details that made them who they were. What made them laugh? What were they passionate about? What stories do people still tell? What mannerisms or quirks do you miss?

I'll ask about:

  • Their character and personality
  • Their achievements and what they were proud of
  • The relationships that mattered most
  • The laughter and joy they brought
  • The impact they had on others
  • How you'd like them to be remembered

Then I'll craft a ceremony that celebrates all of it. My style is warm, energized, and welcoming. If humor feels appropriate, I'll include it respectfully, because laughter is part of honoring someone's memory too. If you'd prefer something more reflective and quiet, that's absolutely fine.

My ceremonies are often non-religious, but I'm more than happy to include prayers, blessings, or hymns if that's meaningful to you. This is about what feels right for your family and honors the person you're remembering, nothing more, nothing less.

    I'll arrive early to coordinate with funeral directors and venue staff, then deliver the ceremony with warmth, sincerity, and a voice that carries clearly throughout the space.

  • Guidance Through the Process

    I'll help you think through elements like music choices, readings, whether you'd like family members involved, and any other details you're unsure about.

  • A Keepsake of the bespoke ceremony

    The complete service is provided so words will not be forgotten.

How It Works

  • 1. Get In Touch

    Whether you're planning ahead or it's more immediate, reach out and we'll arrange a time to talk, whatever works best for your situation.
    I work regularly with funeral directors across Derbyshire and have established relationships with many of them. If you're already working with a funeral director, they can contact me directly or you can request for them to contact me. You do not have to use a celebrant they recommend, the choice is completely yours.
    If you're arranging things independently, that's absolutely fine too, I'll guide you through what you need to know and contact the Funeral Directors on your behalf.

  • 2. We Meet (Or Chat)

    I'll sit down with you (or we can speak by phone or video) to hear about your loved one and discuss what you'd like from the ceremony.

  • 3. I Create the Ceremony

    Based on everything you've shared, I'll write a tribute that honors the person and reflects what matters most to your family.

  • 4. The Ceremony

    I'll coordinate with funeral directors, arrive early, and deliver a ceremony that brings comfort and celebrates a life lived.

Location & Venues

I predominantly work in Derbyshire, covering crematoriums, cemeteries, woodland burial grounds, and private venues.

I've also traveled to neighboring counties when requested. If your ceremony is taking place outside Derbyshire, just let me know and we'll discuss the details.

How much notice do you need?

I can often work with short timeframes. Funerals typically happen within 2-4 weeks of someone passing, and I'll do my best to be available for your chosen date.

Can you include religious elements even though you're an independent celebrant?
What if family members want to speak or be involved?
Do you work with all funeral directors?
Can we have the ceremony somewhere unusual?
